Born in Jonesboro, Arkansas in 1983 and raised in Denton, Texas, Tim is a self-taught artist who began painting in 2017 from rooftop quarters in New Delhi, India, where he spent a decade working in various ventures.

After college, Tim took jobs in India to connect deeply with people from a different culture. There, he developed an appreciation for the sacredness of friendship, life, and space. He also rekindled an interest in painting and undertook a classical mentorship, studying privately with Jonathan Hardesty. His work quickly gained notice, attracting the interest of high-end galleries and collectors around Park City and the West.

Tim prefers to paint big iconic subjects on big panels. “I’m drawn to subjects that make me feel small,” he says. Big skies, big barns, and big mountains—often with few figures—create the sense of a dramatic, enduring stage upon which life briefly flourishes. He likes placing historic, weathered barns against the backdrop of solid, ageless rocks and mountain, or setting subjects underneath a sweeping and animated sky. These arrangements invite reflection on transcendence and transience, grandeur and fragility, permanence and impermanence. In this sense, Tim carries forward the spirit of the Hudson River Valley School and the golden age of Dutch landscape painting, even as he updates their style and form for a new time.

While these themes shape his perspective, most of Tim’s paintings emerge from an undefined visual intuition rather than a predetermined concept. “I paint from my gut…deciding what looks good as I go.” This blend of experience, instinct, and artistic vision makes his work compelling, deeply personal, and unlike anything else.

This picture is from his daughters’ Naamkaran, or “baby-naming ceremony…” in Delhi, India.
